Rescue crews have recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Dan River last week.

At the time witness claimed he saw Parrish slip from a ledge while retrieving a fish net.
Danville police have confirmed that a body pulled from the Dan river yesterday is that of Parrish.

The blaze broke out around 7-45 yesterday evening along McCray Road, off of Route 43.
Police say no one was at home at the time, and no one was injured in the blaze.
Investigators still are NOT sure what caused the fire.

It was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A Martinsville woman who witnessed a couple fighting ended up being fatally shot.
Police say 23 year old Denisha Wilson was arguing with her boyfriend outside his home on Royal Drive.
They say Wilson pulled a gun out of her car and started randomly shooting.
A bullet hit 29-year-old Dionysia Oaks in the chest.
She died a short time later.
Wilson is charged with second degree murder and is being held at the Martinsville jail without bond.[VMI-Lawyers]

Attorneys for Six Virginia Military Institute cadets convicted of lying will ask for federal intervention in the case today.
A jury of seven V-M-I cadets returned the verdict Friday
night in an honor court case.
On trial were three freshmen and three seniors.
The freshmen were accused of lying to protect their
senior mentors who spanked them with belts.
The seniors were accused of lying about hitting the freshmen for barracks rule violations.

A Dublin man has died in a car accident in Pulaski.
State Police say 58- year- old Claude Edward Thompson was a passenger in a car that was struck head-on by a another car on Route 7-47 last night.
Thompson was killed in the accident. No word on injuries to others involved in the accident.
The driver of the other car, whose name was not available from police, has been charged with reckless driving.

Lawyers for six V-M-I cadets who face expulsion will ask a federal judge to intervene in the case today.
An honor court jury at V-M-I recommended expulsion for the six cadets. The three seniors are accused of lying about beating the freshmen and the three freshmen are accused of lying to protect the seniors.

Danville police have confirmed that a body pulled from the Dan River yesterday is that of drowning victim Lynwood Henry Parish.
A witness said he saw 45-year-old Parish slip into the river on Wednesday.
Rescue crews had searched for the victim last week until river conditions became too dangerous to continue the search.
