A tornado struck a Pittsylvania County home last night, ripping the roof off, but injuring no one.
And a mudslide blocked one lane of U-S 29 on White Oak Mountain.
A second tornado touched down just south of Danville- in Caswell County, North Carolina.

Ominous lightning lit up the sky.
A tornado is believed to have hit this house off of Route 41 in Mount Hermon.
The roof is missing.. the contents of the top floor are strewn all over the yard.
Luckily, the people who live here are reported to be okay.
Other homes on this street sustained moderate damage.
Emergency crews stationed themselves throughout the southern end of Pittsylvania County.
Many of them warning motorists of flooded roads.
Earlier in the evening, a tornado touchdown was reported in Caswell County, North Carolina-- about 15 miles south of Danville.
This mobile home was completely blown over.
The people inside walked away with relatively minor injuries.
Ray Coleman says the tornado came without a warning.

A former teacher is facing several charges of having sex with one of his students in Smyth County.

A court date was set today for 34-year old Michael Dwayne Blevins.
He's charged with 30-counts of consensual oral sodomy and 15-counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Prosecutors say the teenage girl was a former student of Blevins when he taught in Rural Retreat although the alleged crimes happened in Smyth County.

Another chain reaction wreck on Interstate 64 over Afton Mountain.
Three tractor-trailers and 18 cars were involved in yesterday's pileup.
The road was blocked for about 90 minutes.
No serious injuries were reported.
Fog is partly to blame for the wreck.
But State police said the highway's fog lights were on at the time and visibility was about 100 feet -- but police said a tractor-trailer was driving too fast and clipped several vehicles.

Police say 20-year old Antuan Taylor first stole a money bag from a depositor at First Virginia Bank on Orange Avenue.
When Taylor's stolen getaway car wouldn't start, he ran to the bank across the street.
Jones was there in his unmarked car, getting ready to cash a check.

Some Cave Spring High School students were caught in a surprise inspection yesterday.

Roanoke County police officers made a surprise visual sweep of cars in the Cave Spring parking lot yesterday morning.
A county lieutenant says officers found marijuana in three vehicles.
They also found what may be a crack pipe, and several cars which contained tobacco products, which are also prohibited on school grounds.
Several students may be charged later as a result of yesterday's search.

Crews hung out late last night to add a floral touch around downtown.
A total of 331 baskets of flowers were hung on lamposts all over downtown.
They cost about 10,000 dollars and were donated by Valley Beautiful.
Flower baskets filled with lilies, geraniums and petunias, among other plants line six areas in downtown Roanoke including Church Avenue and Market Square.
