Early test results show a promising new cancer treatment may not be a quick cure.

Research in mice showed the drugs worked by cutting off the blood supply that nourished tumors.
That caused the cancer cells to shrink and die.
So far in human tests the drugs have not worked as effectively.
Of 24 patients with spreading tumors, only one responded with a temporary shrinking of cancer.

Another drug was tested on 33 people with kidney cancer.
One person's tumor shrank by half. Four other's cancer quit spreading.
Meanwhile Canadian research is showing the inportance of prostate cancer screening here in the United States.
An eight year study showed that early exams in the U-S reduced the number of prostate cancer deaths by 69 percent.
About 390 thousand American men are expected to die from prostate cancer this year.
