Museum officials announced renovation plans yesterday.
A new front entrance, a fresh coat of paint and a pedestrian plaza are all part of the scheduled improvements.
The Virginia Department of Transportation and a Roanoke city bond issue will fund the almost 400-thousand dollar project.
The improvements should be in place by October, when the museum will enter its final phase of renovation.
That includes updating the Pavillion and contructing a new West Gallery.
