Hedrick got his wish today when an Appomattox jury handed down the first death penalty in the county's modern history.

Prosecutors made an issue of the fact that Hedrick has never said he's sorry.

Harvey had been charged with first degree murder.

As Memorial-Day travelers get ready to hit the road, there's already been one bad accident near Roanoke.

A van heading south on 81 collided with a tractor trailer.
A woman and three children inside the van were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The Roanoke County EMS chief said none of the injuries is life-threatening.
The accident brought traffic to a crawl between I-81 and Hershberger road.
State Police are urging drivers to be extra careful as they head out of town this weekend.
