An Amherst County man apparently pulled out a shotgun after a game of horseshoes last night -- killing one man and wounding two others.
Police say 29-year old Kenneth Branham of Monroe killed 43-year old Richard Eubank of Amherst.
They say he also wounded Bobby Beverly of Monroe and Ricky McDaniel of Buena Vista.
Beverly is in critical condition at Lynchburg General Hospital.
McDaniel has been released.

Branham is in the Amherst County jail charged with murder and two counts of malicious wounding.[Danville-Ax]

A five-year old boy is in good condition today after being run over by the pick up truck he was riding in yesterday.

Police say Larnell Hampton backed the truck out of a driveway on Robin Hood Drive and Jerrick Blackstock fell off the back of the truck.
They say Hampton kept driving and hit the child.
Hampton is charged with driving under the influence.

Dede dropped out after only five laps, and although the Raonoke streets were decorated with all the patriotic unity memorial day offers, the indivudual competition ran high. 1990 Pulaski County high school graduate and now pro cyclists Scottie Weiss, who lead the first twenty minutes, found out the hard way. Weiss joined nearly 80 cyclists chasing the 41 hundred dollars in prize money; a pot that drove riders to speeds in access of 40 miles an hour on the tracks fast six corners. Fans watched the cylcist make 45 laps around the 1 kilometer course which took a beating from the occassional premes or lap sprint for prize money. A chess match finish between John Lieswyn and Team Saturn's Norm Alvis capped off the race. Lieswyn's win results in a 528 dollar payday. ((:))
While Alvis finished second, he was the omnium winner or the overall pro champion after a solid two days of racing.))
