Police say it appears Hartmans wife fired the fatal shot and then turned the gun on herself.

((Authorities removed the bodies of comedian Phil Hartman and his wife from their home late thursday. Now they'll search for a motive in what appears to be a murder suicide. Early in the day police rushed to the scene of this posh mansion in suburban Los Angeles after reports of gunfire. when they arrived, the found hartman and his wife dead.
LT. ANTHONY ALBA/LAPD: MR. HARTMAN HAD BEEN DEAD FOR A WHILE, HE DID NOT DIE AT THE SAME TIME THAT MRS. HARTMAN APPARENTLY KILLED HERSELF.
Phil hartman came to fame on Saturday Night Live and the NBC series "Newsradio". Some of his most famous routines included portraying President Clinton and Ed McMahon.
His death is the latest for a saturday night live alum. First there was John Belushi, then Gilda Radner and recently Chris Farley. Hollywood appeared stunned at the Hartman's deaths. But investigators say the motive may not be too hard to find.

Todays blast rocked a garage- reportedly killing a suspect in Sunday's church bombing.

CBS radio is reporting the incident is believed to be a suicide by the suspect- but federal agents have not confirmed that..

Today's blast happened just four days after a bomb went off during a church service in the same Illinois town.
That explosion ripped a ten by 15 foot hole in the church building and injured 33 people.
Federal Agents have not said what a motive may be.

The man was killed after he was struck by a car.
He was apparently cutting a lawn on a riding mower when he ventured into the road on a blind curve.
Police say the driver of the car tried to avoid the victim, but lost control of his vehicle.
The victim's name has not been released pending notification of the family.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys are one person away from selecting a panel of potential jurors to decide the fate of Louis Ceparano.

The 43-year old is charged with capital murder in the death of a former black Marine who was burned alive and beheaded in Grayson County.
The judge has instructed both sides to select a panel of 24 potential jurors which will eventually be narrowed down to 12 jurors and two alternates.
So far, 23 potential jurors have been selected.
Of that number, none are black.
The remaining potential juror is expected to be selected tomorrow morning.

Norfolk Southern has determined the cause of the train wreck in Lynchburg earlier this year.

According to the railroad, an employee did not "apply a sufficient number of hand brakes."

The Virginia Court of Appeals has overturned the murder conviction of a Pittsylvania County man.

Back in 1996, a jury found Paul Dalton Junior guilty of killing 72-year old Clark Adkins and burying his body.
But last week, the Virginia Court of Appeals ruled that the lower court did NOT properly instruct the jury.
The problem: the jury was not told that they could have found Dalton guilty of being "an accessory after the fact" if they could not convict him of murder.
Dalton's sister and her boyfriend were also convicted in connection with the murder.
No word if Dalton can OR WILL be retried.

The state's largest health insurer finally joined a national lawsuit against the tobacco companies.

NASA says an image from the Hubble Space Telescope may be our first real glimpse of a planet outside our solar system. NASA shared the possible discovery today.
For decades scientists have searched for planets outside the Milky Way.
Since 1995 researchers have detected signs of eight other possible worlds.
Though this is the first time astronomers have been able to actually see one for themselves.
The object is called T-M R-1-C and is located in the Taurus constellation about 450 light years from earth.
