That explosion tore a hole inside a church and injured more than 30 people.
A Chicago newspaper indentifies the bombing victim as a military veteran with mental problems.

This morning prosecutors and defense attorneys are expected to select the final potential juror in the case of Louis Ceparano.

The 43-year old is charged with capital murder in the death of a former black Marine who was burned alive and beheaded in Grayson County.
The judge has instructed both sides to select a panel of 24 potential jurors which will eventually be narrowed down to 12 jurors and two alternates.

Of that number, none are black.

Norfolk Southern says it has found the cause of a train derailment in Lynchburg earlier this year.

The March 31st derailment sparked a massive blaze after a 65-car train broke loose from a rail yard.
According to the railroad, an employee did not "apply a sufficient number of hand brakes."

Norfolk Southern will not say if it is taking any discplinary action.

A 16-year-old honor student who allegedly brought a handgun to Christiansburg High School has pleaded no contest to the charge.
Authorities say the sophomore pulled a loaded pistol from her backpack in February because she was upset with an ex-boyfriend.
Friends reportedly grabbed the gun and unloaded it.
A juvenile court judge yesterday said a judgement will not be made in the case until the girl is sentenced.

A Pittsylvania County man has had his murder conviction overturned by the Virginia Court of Appeals.

Back in 1996, a jury found Paul Dalton Junior guilty of killing 72-year old Clark Adkins and burying his body.
But last week, the Virginia Court of Appeals ruled that the lower court did NOT properly instruct the jury.
The problem: the jury was not told that they could have found Dalton guilty of being "an accessory after the fact" if they could not convict him of murder.
Dalton's sister and her boyfriend were also convicted in connection with the murder.
No word if Dalton can OR WILL be retried.

A conviction in the trial of a man charged in a December shooting at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Derrick Lee Coles was found guilty of malicious wounding.

Bradner was wounded in the abdomen and chest.
The shooting was apparently in retaliation for a shooting earlier that same night in a Hardee's parking lot.

Coles will be sentenced in July.

Only one more potential juror will be chosen in the capital murder trial of Louis Ceparano- one of the men accused of burning and then beheading the body of Garnett G-P Johnson.
Twenty-three potential jurors have been selected for a panel that will be narrowed down to twelve jurors and two alternates.

A Dublin man died last night when the lawnmower he was riding was struck by a car.
Police say 62-year old James F. Revilla was cutting a lawn in Roanoke County when his mower wandered too far into Feather Road on a blind curve.
A moving car apparently tried to avoid Revilla, but struck the lawnmower, killing the victim.

An explanation for the March 31st train derailment that caused a massive blaze in downtown Lynchburg.
Norfolk Southern says an employee did not "apply a sufficient number of hand brakes" in the accident that sent a 65-car train off the tracks.
The railroad did NOT say if they were pursuing disciplinary action.
