Two men were hospitalized this morning after a private plane crashed in a residential area of Floyd County.
The student pilot, Robert Anderson, is listed in stable condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
His instructor, Barry Hyde, is listed in critical condition in the hospital's neurotrauma unit.
The two were travelling from North Carolina to Lewisburg, West Virginia when they crashed near Route 8.

Authorities have discovered the body of a man reported missing Sunday in Henry County.
Dive teams searched for 22-year-old Mark Anthony Turner much of the day yesterday. His body was recovered in a large pond in Spencer.
Turner was fishing with friends when they left to get bait and could not find him when they returned.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office says his death was an accident.

Roanoke is working to stop raw sewage from flowing out of a manhole and into the Roanoke River.

A Botetourt County woman is spending time behind bars following a drunken driving accident.

Four children were in the back of Patricia Long's car when she drove drunk and crashed.
Her blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
A judge revoked Long's license and gave her a 30 day SUSPENDED jail sentence.
But she WILL serve three months of a three year jail sentence for endangering children.

There were six guilty pleas stemming from drug charges in a Halifax County courtroom yesterday.

Kenneth Traynham, in the blue T-shirt, pleaded guilty to drug charges yesterday in federal court.
He is said to have been the ring leader in a major crack cocaine operation in Halifax County.
Five other people pleaded guilty to various charges including conspiracy and drug distribution.
These convictions come after a year-long investigation involving undercover drug agents.
Several of these defendants could receive life in prison when they are sentenced in August.

Authorities say a drug- related shooting that happened a week ago is now a murder.
41-year old David W. Robertson was shot last Tuesday in Lynchburg.
He died Sunday at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Police have charged 18-year old Dale Lee Pughsley (PUGS-lee) with murder and two counts of attempted robbery.
Several others are being sought for questioning.
