A man accused in the stabbing death of his ex-wife in Roanoke last week is now in a psychiatric hospital.
Michael Jennings was committed to the hospital after threatening to kill himself in court yesterday.
He also attempted to gouge out one of his eyes during his arraignment before deputies stopped him.

Jacob Beard has been serving time for killing two female hitchhikers nearly 20 years ago.
Now his attorneys say prosecutors improperly used Beard's statements to develop their case.
The West Virginia Supreme Court will decide whether Beard will get a new trial.
Beard was convicted in 1993 for killing two women who were on their way to a Rainbow Family reunion in Pocahontas County.

Authorities say two of the men are covered with white supremacist tattoos.

At least four people are believed trapped inside the structure.
The last indication anyone was alive came at 2 a-m yesterday when some thudding noises were heard.

Two workers are known dead; eleven were injured.

A Montgomery County teenager died yesterday after he was electrocuted while mowing a lawn.
Sheriff's investigators found the body of 16-year-old Robert Earl Tuell (Tool) in the back yard of his home in Riner.
Sheriff's investigators say Tuell was mowing the lawn and stopped to move a piece of metal pipe which struck an overhead power line.

A NOT guilty verdict has been handed down in the trial of a Henry County teacher accused of having sex with a student.

Kevin Doty was suspended from his job at Fielddale-Collinsville High School when the accusations were made last year.
A 16-year old girl-- hidden here by an umbrella-- testified she had a sexual relationship with Doty during the fall of 1997.
But the judge didn't believe her story and found Doty NOT GUILTY on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Doty's wife says she's glad this terrible ordeal is over.

Police charged Daniel Alfonzo Cotton after a robbery yesterday morning at 22nd and Melrose Avenue.
It was the fourth time that NationsBank branch had been hit in the last three years.
Nobody was hurt during yesterday's robbery.
And even though bank customers are concerned about their money's safety, police say there's nothing to worry about.
Police say it's just a coincidence that robbers seem to like that bank.

If deadbeat parents won't pay up in child support, they will give up their license to drive.
The state Division of Child Support Enforcement has started suspending driver's licenses of non-custodial parents who owe child support.
Last month alone, the agency pulled the licenses of more than 14-hundred deadbeat parents.
This is the first crackdown by the agency since the General Assembly approved the suspension of deadbeat parents' licenses in 1995.

A Henry County teacher accused of having sex with a student has been found NOT guilty.
A judge did not believe the testimony of a 16-year old girl who claimed she had a sexual relationship with Kevin Doty last fall.
Doty was suspended from his job at Fielddale-Collinsville High School. No word on whether he will return.
