A Roanoke judge refused to reduce first degree murder charges against Willie Caldwell today.

Kerrin Tisdale testified Caldwell came to the apartment with a gun and started arguing with Jones.

Police are not releasing his identity.
He was charged after the weekend shooting death of 22-year old Keith E-Sandifer.
It happened in the 12-hundred block of Jamison, in Southeast Roanoke.
Witnesses told police Sandifer and his killer were arguing over a woman.
Police found Sandifer lying in a parking lot.
He died at the hospital.

Police managed to diffuse a potentially dangerous situation last night, after a man allegedly tried to shoot his girlfriend with an assault rifle.

Police found the suspect, 31-year old Jesus (HAY-zeus) Perez, at home in the 800 block of Center Aveune.
After a brief standoff, he came out on the porch unarmed and was arrested.

Perez was charged with attempted malicious wounding.

An increasing trend of heterosexual transmission of the disease is also emerging.
For new AIDS cases last year, 43- percent were transmitted from men having sex with other men.
But heterosexual transmission is now the number two way the disease spreads in Virginia, at 20- percent of all new cases.
The H-I-V numbers, before full-blown AIDS develops, show an even smaller gap between transmission methods.
31- percent of new HIV reports in Virginia were homosexually transmitted.
23- percent were heterosexually transmitted.
The number of I-V drug user cases is declining in both columns.

The Pentagon today confirmed the remains exhumed from the tomb are those of Air Force Pilot Michael Blassie.
Pentagon officials notified Blasie's family today-
The remains were exhumed in May so new DNA testing could be done- It was those tests that confirmed it was in fact Blasie who was buried there.
Blassie was shot down over Vietnam in 1972.
His family has indicated it wants Michael's Casket buried at a Veterans cemetery near the family home in Missouri.

Former friday Football player of the week Dominique Dews from William Campbell has decided to play college football at Lenoir-Ryne.

The quarterback graduated from William Campbell this year. He's signed a letter of intent to pay at the Division II school.
Dews was the coaches choice for group 2A offensive player of the year.
He was also the Region III and Dogwood player of the year.
Dews tossed 19 touchdowns and threw for nearly 2 thousand yards this past season.
