Authorities have not said whether the 17-year old will be charged as an adult.
The unidentified youth was charged after the weekend shooting death of 22-year old Keith E-Sandifer.
It happened in the 12-hundred block of Jamison, in Southeast Roanoke.
Witnesses told police Sandifer and his killer were arguing over a woman.
Police found Sandifer lying in a parking lot.
He died at the hospital.

Plans to close the facility were announced two years ago.

One law will make non-prescription drugs exempt from sales taxes.

Meanwhile a law banning so-called partial-birth abortions was supposed to take effect tomorrow. A federal judge blocked its enforcement until a lawsuit over it's constitutionality is heard in August.
State officials are trying to overturn the injunction today in federal appeals court.

But heterosexual transmission is now the number two way the disease spreads in Virginia, at 20- percent of all new cases.
The H-I-V numbers, before full-blown AIDS develops, show an even smaller gap between transmission methods.
31- percent of new HIV reports in Virginia were homosexually transmitted.
23- percent were heterosexually transmitted.
The number of I-V drug user cases is declining in both columns.

New signs were unveiled yesterday.
It is still the same road-- but community leaders on both sides of the state line say the new interstate designation will boost economic development.
