A one-year old Campbell County girl died after being accidentally shot by her four-year old brother yesterday.

Just after five yesterday, deputies were called to this home in the Happy Valley subdivision near Rustburg.
Authorities say a four-year old boy got a hold of a gun and accidentally shot his one-year old sister in the head.
The child was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where she died.
Sheriff Robert Maxey says it will be up to the commonwealth's attorney to decide whether the parents should face criminal charges.

There is a connection. For the first time, Roanoke police officially say there is a link between an apartment fire that killed six people in May and a fatal shooting on the same day.

No one has been charged with setting the fire but investigators say they are focusing on several people who had may have sought revenge for the death of Jones.

A man is facing eight life prison terms after being convicted of molesting his daughter over a period of several years.
The 40-year-old man was convicted yesterday in Roanoke on 12 felony charges stemming from abuse of the girl that began when she was five.
The girl, now eleven, testified in sometimes graphic detail about sexual intercourse and sodomy.
The jury recommended the lengthy sentence.
The man will be sentenced September 4th.

Virginia lawmakers who voted to increase their own checks this spring will now face the state Supreme Court.
