Two people were taken to the hospital--one apparently critically injured, following a single-car accident tonight.

It happened along the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Roanoke Overlook around 9:30.
Park rangers say a car ran off the road and dropped about 25 feet down an embankment.
A man and a woman in the car were both taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
According to parkway officials one of them suffered critical injuries.

A suspected road rage problem turned into a major drug bust for state police today.
Officials received a complaint around 8:30 this morning from a truck driver along I-81 accusing two men in a car of harassing her.
Three hours later the two men were in jail on drug related charges.

29-year old Victor Duane Helm and 18-year old Carlos Renaldo Ivy were traveling southbound on I-81 when they apparently began harassing a female truck driver.
The woman called for help, and police caught up with the two men further down the road.

But, authorities continued checking the background of the man who said he was an officer.

With the help of the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office, state police caught up with the two men again in Botetourt County.
Officers stopped them at a gas station, searched the car and found two zip lock bags full of crack cocaine and two smaller bags of marijuana.

A seven-and-a-half hour standoff last night involving Christiansburg police ended with one man arrested.
Police arrived at the Smokey Ridge Apartments around nine p-m after getting a call from a woman who said a man held her underwater in the bath tub.
When police arrived, the man, armed with a shotgun, barricaded himself inside the apartment.
After negotiations failed, the
Montgomery County SWAT Team entered the building just after 4:30 this morning and arrested William Coleman.
He's charged with abduction, attempted malicious wounding and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Danville police claim an eight-month old baby boy died after being left in a parked car for about four hours.
Authorities say Pamela Susan Walton of Milton, North Carolina, left her son Zakary in the car while she went to work just after eight yesterday morning.
When she returned around noon, the infant wasn't responding.
The baby was prounounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Police are still investigating.
