Police say the pilot of a sea plane that crash-landed into Smith Mountain Lake earlier today was George Marshall of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Marshall was flying with two other people in his single engine plane.
No one appeared to be seriously injured.

Montgomery County police are looking for leads following two early morning assualts.
They happened in the Plum Creek section of the county.
Police say a man broke into a house on Plum Creek Road and attacked a 52 year old woman, she fought him off and he left through a window.
About three hours later a man entered a nearby house on Blair street and raped a 34 year old woman.
Both victims were treated and released from the hospital.
Anyone with information about the attacks is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff's office.

Japanese tour player Brian Watts continues to surprise the golfing world, holding on to his lead at the British Open after three rounds.

But Watts was steady, firing a 3 over 73 . he is the only golfer at even par. The day's best round was a 70. Watts entered the day with a one shot lead and would extend that by a stroke.
Masters champion Mark O'Meara is tied for second with Jim Furyk and, that guy, Jesper parnevik at 2 over par.

This team from Blacksburg is made up of current and former Virginia Tech stars and Bobby Prince.
The former Lord Botetourt and VMI star is now in grad school at Tech.
Prince says the Commonwealth Games are a good avenue for former college players like himself to stay involved in the game.
And not surprisingly this talent laden Blacksburg team beat a South Boston squad 74-to-73.

The team is over seas playing soccer in various tournaments. The team trained at Berglund Soccer comnplex for the trip and has won it's age group at the biggest youth tournament in the world--12 hundred teams from 67 countries. They beat a Swedish team 3-0 to win the group. They now advance to the A bracket single elemination side.

Hundreds of people gathered in the nation's capital to remember the black soldiers who helped the Union defeat the Confederacy.
A memorial to the soldiers was unveiled.
Movies, including "Glory," helped spread the story of these black soldiers.
