First Virginia is the only big Virginia bank left by itself, after Crestar announced its plans to merge with a big Atlanta bank.

Crestar said customers should not notice any big changes.
It will keep the Crestar name for two years.

Then, Atlanta's SunTrust Bank will take over.
The nine-and-a half billion dollar deal will make SunTrust the country's tenth biggest bank, with branches stretching from Florida to Maryland.
And because SunTrust and Crestar don't have branches in the same states, analysts said the merger should not lead to many job cuts.
