He helped Javier Cruz keep the cocaine transportation network running after their boss got arrested in 19-91.

Though he pleaded NOT guilty, the 36-year old drug trafficker got credit for accepting responsibility.

The VMI football teamprogram has suffered a great loss on and off the field for the upcoming season. sophomore Linebacker Jeff Akers suffered a serious head injury Wednesday and will sit out this year. Akers was doing mantinence work for parks and recreation and fell off a vehicle in a freek accident. He was released from Roanoke Memorial Hospital yesterday and is wresting at home in salem.

The rising sophomore, seen here playing for Salem high school, was projected as a starter for the Keydets this season at the will linebacker position. He was selected defensive MVP of the Spring drills as well.
At Salem, Jeff was a first team all district, region, and all state selection at linebacker. Doctors will re-evaluate him August 10th, but Akers should be able to play in future seasons.

But at the end, it was dale Earnhardt Junior taking the checkered flag at the Kroger 200, his fifht Busch series win of the season.
