Up next on News 7 at Six... families involved in the baby switching case reportedly meet for the first time...
And the summer drought ends... it a big way...
In Sports, Sosa and McGwire battle in St. Louis Joe Nemechek leads second round qualifying at Watkins Glen.
And the Salem Spartans opened football practice with confidence and a new look.
The phone lines were burning up with reports of very heavy rainfall today.
And there may be more to come.
Details are coming up.
A weekend meeting of all the family members involved in the baby-switching case has already taken place.
Paula Johnson, the mother of Callie Johnson, and the grandparents of Rebecca Chittum were scheduled to meet tomorrow... but according to published reports that meeting took place yesterday.
Michael Irvine, the attorney representing Rebecca's paternal grandparents told the Washington Post the families actually met last night.
Irvine said the family rescheduled the meeting because they were afraid they'd be followed by reporters.
He said the children were not present, neither were the lawyers, and everything went well.
The family is still waiting for the results of DNA tests.
Meanwhile the state health department is now investigating the University of Virginia Medical Center where the alleged switch took place.
The department is looking into what procedures the hospital had in place, and whether the procedures were followed.
A traffic accident near Arcadia killed one person earlier this afternoon.
The accident happened around 12:30 near the 1-72 mile marker along Interstate 81.
State police say a car travelling southbound ran off the road and up onto an embankment.
Authorities say the car then came down and hit the back of a tractor trailor.
The driver of the car was killed.
Police are not releasing the driver's name.
A man from Rocky Mount also died in a fatal accident today along Route 57 in Henry County.
The accident happened around eight this morning.
According to police the driver of a pick-up truck sped around a corner, lost control of the truck and slammed into an oncoming car.
Rescuers transported the driver of the car, 33-year old Manuel Ramos Torres, to Memorial Hospital in Martinsville where he later died.
Police are still investigating the accident.
Inmates will continue going out on work details near the Botetourt Correctional Unit.
This, after one inmate escaped from a work gang last night.

Robert Bentley Newberry led police on a seven-hour manhunt.
The 31-year-old broke loose from a group of inmates who were clearing brush in the woods.
The Superintendent of the Botetourt Correctional Unit said he will review work-detail procedures next week to determine how Newberry was able to get away.
Newberry is serving 19-years for robbery.
If he is convicted on escape charges, he could face another five years in the penitentiary.
Salem police are saying it again tonight:
Residents of the Willow River apartment complex should stop worrying.
The boy who allegedly set a string fires there -- a 10-year-old -- is in custody.
Three of those fires happened yesterday, sending residents into a panic.
A total of six fires have broken out at the complex in the last two weeks.
Police are not saying much about the 10-year-old they arrested.
But if he is found guilty, he will NOT be the youngest arson suspect in the area.
In 19-82, police believe a seven-year-old set fire to a house on Patton Avenue.
That blaze killed a 66-year-old woman.
No one was hurt in the Willow River fires in Salem.
It was welcomed by some and cursed by others.
Rain -- lots of rain -- fell over most of our area this afternoon.
It caused some flooding around Roanoke and some traffic accidents everywhere.
But as Scott Goldberg reports, some people have been waiting all summer for a day like today.

Firefighters are blaming lightning for a blast that sent shockwaves through a Roanoke apartment complex.
It happened this afternoon at the Summit apartments.
One building was evacuated after residents heard a loud pop, saw an orange flash, and then smelled smoke.
Nobody was hurt.
And the building suffered little damage.
But the apparent lightning strike startled residents across the entire apartment complex.

Investigators said the whole thing was sort of puzzling.
With no visible damage, authorities are not sure what caused some apartments to fill with smoke.
They're guessing it was a burned-out element in one of the building's water heaters.
