The U-V-A Medical Center now says the I-D bracelets worn by a newborn girl 3 years ago WERE loose enough to slip off her wrist and ankle without being cut.
This possible violation of hospital policy could be the reason that two infants were sent home with the wrong mothers.

A juvenile court judge denied bond yesterday for a 10-year old boy police believe is responsible for one of seven fires at the Willow River apartments in Salem.
Meantime, residents of the complex continue to lose sleep, and have now taken to patrolling the area during those sleepless nights.

Salem police realize they gave people a false sense of security after they announced on Friday that everything would be O-K.
But they believed that, after arresting a 10-year-old suspect, the risk of another fire was gone.
And they never would've guessed such a destructive fire would break out Sunday.
State police have taken over the investigation into that fire.

New River Health District authorities are investigating a possible E-Coli outbreak at a Floyd County day care facility.
Health officials have not identified the day care center, but they say they ARE evaluating all children and staff members.
This strain of E-Coli causes diarrhea with stomach cramps.
Symptoms usually appear two to four days after being exposed to the bacteria.
E-Coli can occasionally be found in some raw foods.
The bacteria can be transmitted from person to person within families or child care centers.
