A former Halifax County jailer will serve time in the prison he used to guard.

Jonathan Majors was sentenced today to six months in jail-- for having oral sex with two female inmates.
He pleaded guilty in June to two counts of sodomy.
The women filed criminal complaints last year against Majors and two other jailers.
But there was only enough evidence to indict Majors.
Majors will report to jail in two weeks.
A group of people in Covington plan to sue city officials concerning the downtown construction of the new Alleghany Regional Jail.
City Council plans to close off Court Street to make way for the new jail that's going to be about three to four times as big as the current one.
But, a Covington business woman says she and her mother own part of that property.
They say it's illegal for city officials to close it without compensating them.

The medical community is calling chlamydia a silent epidemic.
Three quarters of the women and half of the men with the disease have no symptoms.
But chlamydia can cause infertility and internal scarring if left unchecked.

There has been major progress in the treatment of chlamydia with antibiotics over the past few years.
A Study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that the highest chlamydia infection rate was among 14-year old girls. Nearly 28 percent of those tested were infected.

Henry County teachers are getting a lesson this week in computer technology.
This lap-top training session in Collinsville is part of the county's initiative to put a computer in the hands of every 4th and 8th grade student.
The program cost Henry County one-point 6 million dollars-- including the purchase of 15-hundred computers.
These teachers agree school instruction must change with the times.
