In his three years with the team Waltrip never won a regular Cup event, but he did capture the 1996 Winston all-star race at Charlotte.
Rumors of his departure from the team were running rampant back in July.
But earlier this month Michael signed a letter of intent to drive for the Woods again next season.
The two sides changed their minds this past weekend at Michigan. No replacementt has been named.

Italian dictator Benito Mussolini's history was on sale today at an English auction house.

These photographs are among several belongings taken from Mussolini's library by a British pilot at the end of World War Two.
This hat topped bidding in Scarborough, England at 37- hundred dollars.
A total of 57 items were put up for sale by the family of Captain Richard Beck.
The collection also included Beck's flight manual, detailing how the Captain landed his plane near Mussolini's abandoned home before taking the memorabilia.
