51-year old Patrick Wayne Gould was arrested yesterday on ten counts object sexual penetration, ten counts of sexual battery, and one count of forcible sodomy.

Brenda Prevette says the sexual abuse started after Gould became her probation officer.

Divers spent yesterday looking for Harris who is presumed dead.

Investigators say the barge the boat hit was supposed to be anchored to the shore.

Chain saws will hum in Jefferson National Forest after a federal judge in Roanoke approved the clearing of several hundred acres there.

Despite protest from several environmental groups, Judge James Turk has ruled that the Forest Service did consider the environmental impact of the proposed logging.
It affects about 600 acres of the forest in Alleghany County.
The judge found the Forest Service has "taken a hard look" at the impact this project will have on soil, water and wildlife.
He also points out it does not involve clear cutting large areas of trees.

Sex charges have been filed against a man who served as a probation and parole officer in Pittsylvania County.
Patrick Wayne Gould was arrested yesterday on ten counts object sexual penetration, ten counts of sexual battery, and one count of forcible sodomy.
Brenda Prevette says the sexual abuse started after Gould became her probation officer in 1996, and continued until last month.
