The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman for the murder of her husband.
39-year old Victoria Shelton Sands is charged with first degree murder.

Her husband- 44-year old Thomas Lee Sands was killed around eleven Sunday night.
He was found dead in his home on (CAL-inds) Callands Road near the Henry County line.
An autopsy shows he was shot several times in the neck and chest.

The former director of the Franklin County Development Center was convicted of embezzlement today.

35-year old Jeffrey Krantz directed the center, where mentally handicapped people make and sell crafts.
He stole 16-hundred dollars from the Development Center last year -- paying for personal items like a trip to Virginia Beach with a company credit card.

Country comedian Jerry Clower has passed away.

Clower died of cardiac failure today at a hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, just five days after undergoing heart surgery.
Clower was best known for his homespun Southern humor.
The one time fertilizer salesman began telling humorous stories to entertain his clients.
Friends taped one of his sales pitches and sent it to MCA Records. The result was his first album in 1970.
It went gold within a month.
A devout Christian and Baptist deacon, Clower said he made sure his comedy was always something for the whole family.
