An overnight shooting in Roanoke injured one person.

Police say the male victim suffered minor injuries when he was shot at the Shell Station on the corner of Herschberger Road and Fern Cliff Avenue around 3-15 this morning.
He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Roanoke police say the incident is still under investigation.
2 handguns were recovered at the scene of the shooting.

A Salem man who had reportedly lost his job was in a standoff with police yesterday.

Police say Steve Garnett was armed in his trailer at the Riverland Mobile Home Court.
They say he threatened to shoot any officer that approached him.
The owner of the mobile home park says Garnett had lost his job in Roanoke yesterday and was depressed.
Police coached him out of the trailer by phone.
He is in emergency custody at Lewis-Gale Hospital but police are waiting for the results of a psychiatric evaluation before pressing any charges.

Hurricane Bonnie is moving slowly out to sea this morning, but it's not finished with the East Coast just yet.

The storm regained hurricane strength overnight and slammed into the Virginia Coast.
More than 200-thousand Virginia Power customers were left in the dark, and the utility said it could take two to three days to restore them all.
Winds as high as 70 miles an hour hammered the Virginia Beach oceanfront, while flooding was heavy at Ocean View in Norfolk.
Despite the battering, authorities said there were no reports of injuries.

State Police believe they've located the 1973 black Ford pickup truck involved in a fatal hit and run accident in Pittsylvania County.

Her body was found Wednesday morning.
