A Lynchburg man could spend up to thirty years in prison for attacking a woman outside Lynchburg General Hospital in April.

57-year-old John Major Haygood pled guilty today to abduction and malicious wounding.
Police say Haygood held a knife to Melanie Curnute's (ker-NOOTS) throat and tried to force his way into her car the night of April 28th.
Curnute escaped and a bystander helped chase Haygood down until police arrived.
Haygood will be sentenced in October.
Curnute is considering legal action against the hospital for failing to prevent the attack.

That's why a group of Japanese tobacco farmers paid a visit today to a Pittsylvania County farm.

Workers in Charlotesville began repairing the structural damage at University Hall this morning.

The building was closed on August 12th after 32 cables in the metal tension ring that anchors the roof to the walls were found to be broken.
UVa officials hope the building can be repaired and reopened by the start of the hoop season.
