Clearbrook residents are hoping to make Route 220 a safer place to drive.
Fatal accidents along the road between the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Franklin County border have many residents seeking solutions.

(( Two weeks ago, Sherry West was killed in a car accident at the intersection of Route 220 and Back Creek Road in Roanoke County.
Residents have placed a cross of flowers on the grass next to the site in rememberence of their neighbor and to warn other motorists about the dangers of the road.
Clearbrook Civic League members acknowledge that improvements have been made north of that site, but they say it's not enough.

A man charged with attacking a woman outside of Lynchburg General Hospital pleaded guilty yesterday in court.

57-year old John Major Haygood tried to abduct Melanie Curnute (ker-NOOT) at knifepoint the night of April 28th.
Curnute managed to escape and a bystander chased Haygood down and held him until police arrived.
Haygood could receive up to 30 years in prison when he's sentenced in October.
Curnute is considering legal action against the hospital for failing to prevent the attack.
