A fifteen- year old stands charged with setting one of seven fires at Salem's Willow River Apartment Complex.
The boy is the second juvenile to be charged in connection with the string of fires.

A Danville man who killed another man he found hiding in his wife's shower will spend 33 years behind bars.

Laquan Stone was sentenced yesterday for the murder of Alvin Averette in April.
Stone found the victim in his estranged wife's shower when he fired the fatal shots.
A jury found him guilty in July of first degree murder.
Defense attorneys were hoping for a lesser manslaughter conviction.

Roanoke valley authorities put an end to the escapades of two alleged scam artists yesterday morning.

The pair had come back to get the 14-hundred dollars they intended to charge for a paving job they'd done Wednesday night.
Benjamin John Keene of Virginia Beach was arrested, along with Harry Lee Small of Concord, North Carolina.
They showed up at James Blackburn's home late Wednesday with what they said was a load of asphalt left over from another job.
Without saying how much it would cost they started putting it down.

Norfolk Southern is paying for damages caused by a train derailment in Lynchburg last spring.

The resulting fire destroyed Lynchburg's salt storage building and much of the city's snowplow equipment.

It could still face a fine for the accident, which investigators blamed on human error.
