Several tractor-trailers and more than a dozen cars end up in one of the worst pileups ever in the Roanoke Valley.

Allen Wilcox lives on Smith Mountain Lake, right across the water from the future site of a condominium complex.

Franklin County supervisors approved the controversial complex last month, which will include 96 units, 180 boat slips, a convention hall, community center, and restaurant.
Wilcox's lawsuit charges supervisors broke the law by allowing those facilities in that area.
County planners disagree.

Sigma-7 Products today announced its intention to aquire Delta Star Incorporated.
Sigma is offering Delta Star stockholders 15 dollars and 50 cents per share.. the total value of the deal is close to 15-million dollars.
Delta Star employs about 250 people in its Lynchburg facility.. they make electrical transformers for power companies.
Its headquarters are in California.
No one with Delta Star could be reached for comment about the offer.

((A number of familiar faces from the area made the trek to Charlottesville on Wednesday. All were heard but not everyone was pleased after the votes were tallied.
For starters, the Northwest region's attempt to keep Amherst County from dropping back to Group Two-A failed. The Lancers will return to the Seminole next season.
That leaves the western district with just four teams. The Committee refused to combine the Western and Roanoke Valley.
Dan River and Tunstall asked for and received permission to return to the Piedmont.
Their spots in the Dogwood district will be taken by Appomattox and Nelson County.
But not everyone left Charlottesville a happy camper.
Rustburg's request to join the Dogwood was denied. The Red Devils stay in the Seminole.
