Like many others travelling down Christiansburg Mountain, Richard Slater is thankful to be alive.
With the first accident, warnings went out over CB radio, but they weren't enough to stop one tractor trailer.

Lifeguard 10 touched down on the interstate to carry the most serioulsy injured to the hospital. Others were transported by ambulance.
The accident blocked the northbound lanes, and backed up traffic for several miles, both on Christiansburg mountain and again near Exit 118, where cars and trucks were diverted onto route 11.
It took four and a half hours to clear the wreckage and re-open the highway.

Yesterday Wayne Lamar Moyer was sentenced to eight years in prison.
The same jury already convicted him of involuntary manslaughter.

Franklin County supervisors now face a lawsuit over thier vote on a condominium site.

Allen Wilcox lives on Smith Mountain Lake, right across the water from the future site of a condominium complex.

Franklin County supervisors approved the controversial complex last month, which will include 96 units, 180 boat slips, a convention hall, community center, and restaurant.
Wilcox's lawsuit charges supervisors broke the law by allowing those facilities in that area.
County planners disagree.

Its headquarters are in California.
No one with Delta Star could be reached for comment about the offer.

Mike Tyson will let a team of Massachusetts doctors determine whether he is psychologically fit to return to the ring.

The former heavyweight champion is in Boston undergoing psychological and neurological tests ordered by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Tyson has asked the Commission for his boxing license back.
He was banned from the sport after he biting off a piece ofEvander Holyfield's ear during their title fight last summer.
Two members of the Nevada Boxing Commission have already indicated they're likely to vote against Tyson.

At least five people were hurt yesterday afternoon in a multi-car accident on Interstate-81.
The accident happened in the northbound lanes when a tractor-trailer slammed into a line of cars already stopped for an earlier accident.
The rig burst into flames.
The driver was badly burned and flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center.

A teenager was killed last night when he was struck by a train.
The accident happened along the Roanoke-Montgomery County line near Elliston.
Police say the train was travelling westbound when it hit the 17-year old.

Employees of Delta-Star in Lynchburg will soon have to report to Minneapolis.
Sigma-7 Products yesterday announced its plan to buy the company.
Delta-Star is Lynchburg's largest employer.
