It was a deadly night on the train tracks in Danville.

Authorities say a 29-year-old Danville man was struck and killed by a Norfolk-Southern train shortly before 6 thirty this evening.
The train's conductor says he blew the horn at the man, who was reportedly laying on the tracks just west of the Monument Street railroad crossing when he was hit.
Charges have NOT been filed in connection with the incident.

He was just 16 when he killed his mother's boyfriend.. today Kevin Lamont Dammones (DAY-minz) pleaded guilty to the crime.
Dammones, now 21, was only recently found competent to stand trial.
He shot Michael Smith in 1994 after Smith allegedly beat Dammones' mother.
Dammones pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.. he'll be sentenced in December.

Authorities say two black men robbed a North Carolina jewelry store Wednesday.

This morning someone stole a black Chevy pickup truck from a Ridgeway convenience store.
Authorities believe the truck thieves might be the jewelry store robbers.

The Roanoke Express travelled to Hampton Roads trying to lift their record to the.500 mark. They were successful although they trailed after two periods. But Duane Hamer ties it at 1-1 in the third and then Mike peron scores the game winner at the 14:12 mark. Daniel Berthiaume registeres 23 saves as the Express win 2-1. Roanoke is now 1-and-1 on the season.

Tonight, Dave Moose Morissette became the first Express player in the franchise's six year history to play in the NHL. Moose scored the Express's first goal and looked much the same tonight in a Montreal uniform.

Morissette warmed up with his new teamates in what would be his NHL start for the canadiens in their third game of the season. Moose will be 27 years old in December and is a hot topic in Montreal for the fact that he worked many years in the minor leagues to get to the show, including a stint in Roanoke.
After these pregame warm ups tongight, Morissette would go on to play 4 minutes and 7 seconds going outt on 8 shifts and he had one shot and three hits.
His Montreal Canadiens would go on to tie the capittals 2-2. Montreal is now 2-0 and 1 on the season.

The driving legend from Danville will be among this year's inductees into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Alabama.
The official announcement won't come until next Wednesday, but News 7 sports has learned that Scott has earned a spot in the hall.
This afternoon we talked with Scott's son about the significance of being inducted during NASCAR's 50th anniversary season.
