There are currently 500 people on parole from prison in the Roanoke area. The Parole Board considers just six of those 500 dangerous enough to require them to wear ankle bracelets. The electronic monitoring devices trigger an alarm, if the parolee leaves home without the parole officer's approval.

Since then, the most popular area of the Cascades, the lower trail, has been closed to visitors.
Building the new bridges will cost 250-thousand dollars.
The lower trail should re-open by this summer.
