Both announcements are part of the fallout from Tuesday's election when Republicans lost seats in Congress.
Just days ago Gingrich took the blame for what happened.

Meanwhile, Congressman Bob Livingston, a Republican from Louisiana is favored to get the speaker's job.

One man is in jail , another in the hospital after leading police on a high speed chase on I-81 yesterday.
It started just north of Roanoke around 8 p-m when police tried to stop 21-year old Shawn Michael Rose for reckless driving.
The chase went on for 30 miles until Rose lost control and wrecked his car.
Rose was taken to the hospital, his passenger, 19 year old Terry Lee Edward was arrested.
Both were wanted on other, unrelated charges.

The Virginia Cavaliers turned the ball over 4 times on interceptions and Florida State dominated the second half in a 45 to 14 win over the Cavaliers.

Florida State scored on its first possession after the kickoff. Chris Weinke puts it into the air for his favorite receiver. Peter Warrick hauls it in and scores on the 79 yard touchdown pass play and the Seminoles jumped out to the 7 to nothing lead.
Virginia opened with the running game. On this play Thomas Jones takes the handoff and rolls down the left sideline for a 37 yard gain all the way to the Seminole 30 yard line.
Several plays later Anthony Southern gets the call he scores from the five yard line and the score was tied at 7 to 7 in the first quarter.
