Their reassessment took a 76 percent hike they feel was unjustified.
It's a feeling shared by several other business owners including those at Des Champs Laboratories who took the city to court over the 1997 tax reassessment and won.
Des Champs claimed city officials failed to factor in the property's age, condition and history--leaving Des Champs to pay nearly two million dollars in taxes.
But, city officials say they weren't to blame.

A state police report today confirmed what many had suspected for months.. that the switch of two babies at the U-V-A Medical Center in 1995 was an accident.

A North Carolina man will spend four-years in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year old girl in Danville.

Robin Wayne Martin was sentenced today for forcing the girl to touch his genitals during a Christmas party in 1996.

While Martin was out on bond awaiting sentencing, he allegedly lured a 12-year old girl away from her church in Charlotte, North Carolina and raped her.
A trial on those charges is set for January.

The President of Clemson is Constantine Deno Curris. He used to be the president of Murray State where among other things he was responsible for naming Beamer the Racers head coach. He is taking an active role in this hiring, as well.
Again, Tech has given Clemson permission to talk to Beamer, but not until after the UVa game.

That's what happened when word got out about the new Star Wars trailer release today.
The two minute preview of the the highly anticipated film entitled The Phantom Menace has raised super hype among die hard Star War fans.
The film is due to open in theaters in May of 1999.
