The Big Game is getting bigger.
In a bid to boost sagging sales, the Virginia Lottery is jumping the jackpot on the multi-state game it helped create.
It's a response to Powerball-mania.

Keith, Virginia's lottery profits that it turns over to the state budget peaked in 1996 at about 315-million dollars.
So The Big Game was created, with five other states.
But it's always been a Powerball wannabe... with its top jackpot at only 80- million dollars.

Virginia's higher education officials have a new plan in mind, to have local school districts issue warranties of sorts on their high school graduates.
If enacted, the proposal would require districts to pay for any remedial classes that students must take as college freshmen. The proposal reflects frustration among state ranks that one quarter of Virginia's public high school graduates must take remedial classes in the state's public colleges.

The "Y-2-K" bug could disrupt systems, because computers might read the year as 19-hundred instead of two-thousand, and just shut down.
Falwell advises stocking up on food, gasoline and ammunition as January two-thousand nears.
