Virginia Republicans are headed into their annual pep rally this weekend with some excitement brewing over future candidacies.
Attorney General Mark Earley announced today that he's forming a political action committee to raise money for next year's General Assembly candidates.
Such a move is usually the precursor to a statewide campaign.
Earley is expected to run for governor in 2001.
Lieutenant Governor John Hager is likely to fight him for the nomination.
And former Governor George Allen is expected to finally make it official that he will run for the U-S Senate in 2000, opposing Chuck Robb.

The missile was automatically destroyed by a built in safety device, and metal fragments showered over a residential area.
