The crisis abroad has put a temporary hold on the crisis at home..today was supposed to be the day Congress would begin its historic vote on the impeachment of Bill Clinton. but Operation Desert Fox, as it's being called, has put a halt to that.

Many Republicans have questioned the timing of yesterday's actions, but in a statement read a few hours after the attack began, the President defended his decision.

military advisers, a swift response would provide the most surprise and the least opportunity for Saddam to prepare. If we had delayed for even a matter of days from Chairman Butler's report, we would have given Saddam more time to disperse his forces and protect his weapons."

His 21-month old granddaughter was next to him in a carseat.
She was unharmed.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Clyde Howard Junior but they haven't been able to track him down.

The gunfire broke out at a gas sation in South Central L-A, not far from the intersection that was the flashpoint of the 19-92 Rodney King riots.
The wounded are said to be in critical condition.

Some school information for you-- Grayson and Smyth County schools are opening one hour late this morning.
A custody dispute involving one of the two little girls switched at birth at the U-V-A Medical Center appears to be over.
That's according to a lawyer for the family that sought sole custody of Rebecca Chittum.
Lexington attorney Ellen Arthur declined to go into details, but said the agreement involves significant time with the girl for both sets of grandparents.
The couple raising Rebecca-- Whitney Rogers and Kevin Chittum-- died in a July Fourth car crash on Interstate 81.

Widening Interstate 81 will cost nearly three and a half Billion dollars and take more than twenty years to complete.
That's the finding of a just-released V-Dot study.
The road would have four lanes in each direction near Roanoke and Salem, the I-77 interchange, Harrisonburg and Winchester.
And all 342-miles of the interstate would be repaved.
