Authorities discovered a bloodstained aluminum baseball bat just a few feet away in a creek. No motive for the killing has been determined. A 27 year old Houston woman has given birth to the first known surviving octuplets.
One infant was born naturally thirteen days ago, the other seven were delivered by caeserian section yesterday.
None weighs more than one pound, eleven ounces, but doctors say the babies have an 85 percent survival rate.

Police say the suspect may be Clyde Howard Junior who is wanted in connection with the shooting death of James Stanley Taylor.
He was was gunned down last week in front of his young grandaughter.

More than a dozen people were injured last night when an Amtrak passenger train derailed in Texas.

Police in Arlington say twelve cars of the double decker superliner left the track at about seven p-m central time.

Thirteen of the 199 passengers aboard were taken to hospitals but most injuries were minor.
Police say the same train struck and killed a deaf woman in Dallas earlier in the day.
The 33 year old women was walking on the tracks when she was hit.
The train was halted for several hours while police investigated, but passengers say they were not told about the accident.

Hundreds of children and adults on an American Indian reservation will have gifts this Christmas thanks to a fundraising effort in Clifton Forge.
