They had been allowed out of their cells before sunrise to prepare meals for the prison's muslim population.
Police set up checkpoints and brought in helicopters.

But, he stopped short of declaring a state of emergency.

Billy Hunter, The Director of the Players Union, and N-B-A commissioner David Stern met today in Colorado.

Stern made what he called his final offer in an effort to salvage the season but he says the proposal produced little progress.
The Players Union was represented by director Billy Hunter and there was no response following the meeting in Denver.
Both sides left the meeting frustrated and admitted that they are far apart. If nothing is settled by January seventh Stern will cancel the season.
