Authorities have captured five of the six inmates who escaped from a Tennessee prison.

The inmates broke out of the Riverbend maximum security prison yesterday morning.
They fled after overpowering a couple of guards who let them out to distribute meals for Ramadan--a muslim holy day.

Those re-captured include convicted murderer William Kirk Riley, Billy Jackson Coffelt and suspected murderer Michael Wayne Perry.
Authorities are still searching for the last escapee.

A construction worker from Dublin fell 45- to 50 feet inside a concrete pillar that will one day be part of the so called "Smart Road".

Authorities say 37- year old Wesley Burford was working inside the pillar when he slipped and fell this morning... landing on his feet in a pool of water.
The pillar will one day support a bridge that will cut through Ellett Valley.
Burford was trapped inside for more than an hour before rescue crews were able to get him to safety.

A woman from Troutville died in an accident on Route 460 this morning.

Authorities say the driver collided with a truck and died shortly afterward.
Police identified the driver as 51-year-old Vicki Suzanne Hopkins; the accident is under investigation.

An early morning fire destroyed a house in Roanoke County.

It was the home of Agnes and Darren Skellington, in the 800 block of Commander Drive.
They were away visiting relatives in New England.
Their house caught fire about four this morning. A newspaper carrier saw flames coming through the roof and called the fire department.
Authorities estimated damage at about 150-thousand dollars. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

At Melrose Towers this morning, firefighters put out a small fire in a wastebasket that filled part of the 7th floor with smoke. No injuries, there.

The effects of the storm that downed trees and power lines have been felt for almost a week now.
The worst news comes from the Virginia Department of Health today.
It reports three elderly people, each living alone near Richmond, died of hypothermia caused by power outages.
Two other deaths in the Richmond area are also being investigated as hypothermia- related.
At the height of the power outages last week, 310-thousand power customers were without power-- the worst statewide outage in five years.
