It's now possible to search through a database of Virginia's more than 46- hundred violent sex offenders.
And you can do it without even leaving your living room--
Ellen Qualls got a demonstration from the State Police-- who just got the internet site on-line this week.

(( So what does a violent sexual predator look like?
Some you'd expect.
Some you may not.
Whatever the quality of the pictures, they are all recent.
And while State Police don't guarantee accuracy, the names, addresses, and offenses are a starting point for the public to protect itself a little better.

Creigh Deeds sponsored the bill.
And the fear of policy makers like him is that publicly posting such heinous crimes might encourage a lynch mob mentality.

The warnings are reminders that harassment or intimidation of these criminals would be a crime itself. [ATTACH STANDUP]
Virginia has 17-hundred more NON-violent sex offenders-- indecent exposers, peeping toms, and the like -- who have done nothing so heinous as to get their picture on this website.
But they are available to schools and day care centers through the Virginia State Police.
