The cause of Tuesday's fire at 905 Patterson Avenue is suspicious.
But officials don't know whether someone torched the place, or a hot iron was left on by accident.
Firefighters say they must still clear ice and debris before determining the cause.
The building's residents were allowed to carry away a few belongings.

Cynthia Munley donated tapes of the last two Salem council meetings regarding the controversial Elizabeth Campus rezoning issue. City manager Randy Smith seized the tapes and returned them to Munley.
The state ACLU says the whole episode reeks of government censorship - and public library acquisitions should be left to professionals on the library staff. But Salem Mayor Sonny Tarpley stands behind Smith's decision and says the rezoning issue is over with. Tarpley adds if the city were censoring the material, it would not have let the meeting be recorded.
