Hundreds of households in Roanoke went without water for most of the day.
This after a water main burst near the corner of Brandon Avenue and Brighton Avenue around seven this morning.
It took crews almost 12 hours to repair the broken pipe.
There's no word yet on what caused it to break.
Two people were injured following an accident in Vinton this afternoon.
It happened around two o'clock at the intersection of Hardy Road and Clearbrook Drive.

Rescue workers say the people involved did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the accident.
Another traffic accident yesterday left one person dead and another injured.
It happened in Campbell County along Route 29.
Authorities say the driver, Russell Lee Vanord, hit a patch of ice, lost control, then slammed into a tree.
He died later at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Vanord's wife Joan was also injured and taken to the hospital.
She's in serious but stable condition.
A Roanoke firefighter was taken to the hospital following a fire last night that took about three hours to put out.
The blaze broke out at an abandoned house near the corner of Elm Avenue and Second Street.
It started in the basement but officials do not know the cause.
Firefighter Larry Spraker was injured when some plaster fell on him while fighting the fire.
No other injuries were reported.
Tickets for the upcoming Elton John concert sold out in just 46-minutes today.

((Joe Ann Breaux was one of the hundreds who packed into the Roanoke Civic Center--hoping for a chance to get her hands on a ticket to the Elton John concert.
A wrist band lottery system determined who would be the first in line to purchase tickets to the show.

Breaux's was the winning band.
She strutted to the front of the line as the crowd cheered.
The New Orleans native had waited 90-minutes to get the winning wrist band, which she seemed destined to have.

Ken Luper got the first wrist band, but was more than 900 off the mark.
Still he was able to circumvent the system and get eight tickets, two of which will go to a worthy cause.

It was a cash only operation with a limit of eight tickets per person.
And, all the tickets at the Roanoke Civic Center were gone in record time.
Moments later Ticket Master outlets around the area also sold out.
The only chance of getting a ticket now may be through local radio station contests.
Officials say it's been hectic., but consider this the storm before the calm.

Airline flights in the northeast were grounded again today... not by snow or ice this time, but fog.

Members of a so-called "doomsday" cult, detained in Israel, are back in the U.S. tonight.
The group of eight adults and six children were detained by Israeli police, who suspected they were planning to instigate violence to hasten the second coming of Christ.
After flying back to Denver today, the group refused to meet with family members waiting for them, and requested a police escort to an undisclosed location.
The group has denied any wrongdoing... and no charges were filed against them in Israel.
A judge has found a Franklin County woman and her former boyfriend guilty of abusing the woman's 19-month old son.
Last summer Rebecca Deal and William Roy Ingram took the boy's bruised boy to an area hospital.
Deal was convicted of child neglect and Ingram of maliciously causing bodily injury.
Deal faces up to five years in jail while Ingram could get 20.
They'll be sentenced on February 19-th.
Winning the state's newest lottery scratch ticket game could help someone to "live long and prosper".
That's because the new "Star Trek" game offers four different tickets with prizes ranging from two to 25-thousand dollars.
Lottery officials say these tickets are designed to take scratch ticket players where no lottery game has taken them before.

People were able to purchase tickets or get them free by shooting the bullseye on an alien.

The apparel industry is hit once again by heavy layoffs.

AirTouch is a valuable cellular phone company.
Acquiring it would boost Bell Atlantic's expansion into the realm of wireless communications.

A judge ruled against Coca Cola after the beverage maker sued the county, trying to get out of paying property taxes on vending machines.
Danville's retail scene is growing big time.
Kmart's turning into Big-K.
Office Max and I-hop are opening.
Goody's and Marshalls are coming to town, too.
The stores are trying to cash in on Danville's growing population.
More people means more customers.

O'Kelly would take control of the game in the second

Michigan State won the battle of the state yesterday beating Michigan by 20 points 72 to 52.

Magic Johnson and the rest of the 1979 National Championship team was honored at the game.
Michigan fell behind early but when Brandon Smith pulled up and hit this three pointer the Wolverines trailed 26 to 25.
But the Spartans came out hot in the second half Mateen Cleaves connects from three point range the Michigan State led 43 to 34.

position and gets the jam off the miss and the Spartans win it 72 to 52.

Virginia Tech was in Philadelphia for an Atlantic 10 game against St. Joseph's. Rolan Roberts scored 17 but it was not enough as the Hokies lose the game 78 to 66.

Denver running back Terrell Davis is the N-F-L's most valuable player. Davis, who became the fourth player to rush for 2-thousand yards in a season, received the honor moments before his team's game against Miami.

In the game, Davis would rush for 199 yards and two touchdowns.
In the first quarter, Davis scored his second T-D of the game when he makes a nice move and scores on the 20 yard run giving the Broncos a 14 to nothing lead.
The Broncos added to that lead in the second quarter when Derek Loville enters the game scores on the 11 yard run to make the score 21 to 3 Broncos.
John Elway's 28 yard T-D pass to Rod Smith made it 28 to 3 then defensive lineman Neil Smith would scoop
up this fumble and take it to the zone on the 79 yard touchdown run and the Broncos win it 38 to 3.
The Broncos will face the winner of the Jacksonville New York Jets game.
The Atlanta Falcons backed up their 14 and 2 regular season record yesterday afternoon beating San Francisco 20 to 18 and earning a spot in the N-F-C championship game.

Falcon coach Dan Reeves returned to the sideline for the game.
The Falcons scored on their first possession Jamal Anderson gets hit and makes the nice spin move to score from the 2 and the Falcons led 7 to nothing.
Anderson gets the call again this time in the second quarter. He gets outside and rolls down the sideline diving over for the 43 yard T-D run and the Falcons led 14 to nothing.
San Francisco would close the gap in the second quarter when Steve Young puts it into the air and
he hits Jerry Rice on the 17 yard T-D pass but the Falcons hold on for the 20 to 18 win.

Now it's the same old game going by a new name--Roller Jam.
The old roller skates have been replaced with the newer roller blades to bring the sport more up to date.
The founder of Roller Jam says the stamina of today's athletes along with TV special effects help make it a far more exciting sport.
