Authorities are still looking for a man who escaped from a Bedford County jail yesterday.
Randy Lawrence Penkert (pink-ert) disappeared some time before 6-30 yesterday evening.
He was waiting to be sentenced on grand theft auto charges.
Officials say Penkert slipped out of a window while part of the Blue Ridge Regional Jail was under construction.
Penkert is about 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.
Due to his non-violent criminal past, Penkert is not considered dangerous.

A man was seriously injured yesterday morning after jumping several feet down a trestle to avoid being hit by a train.
According to published reports, the man was walking along train tracks near Willow Branch Road in Roanoke County.
The train's conducter saw the man, blew his horn and slammed on the brakes.
The man then jumped 30 feet down a trestle and was knocked unconcious.
He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Officials are not releasing his name.
Last Sunday's huge wreck along Interstate 81 was cause for concern for some motorists and especially many truck drivers.

What has Greg Williams and other tractor trailer drivers so concerned is last week's fatal accident on I-81.
Four people died, including a truck driver when eight tractor trailers and seven passenger vehicles slid across an ice covered bridge and crashed.
Truckers are worried they or someone they know could be next.

Sunday is a busy day on the Interstate and one of the busiest days for truckers.
I-81 is their main vein for travel, unless they drive an alternate route, like Route-11.
But that's not considered an option.

An accident in Vinton yesterday afternoon left two people injured.
It happened around two o'clock at the intersection of Hardy Road and Clearbrook Drive.

Rescue workers say the people involved did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the accident.

Wetzel again with the quick hands travels coast to coast and nets the shot. Wetzel had 17 for the game.
G-W does a good job of getting inside to Noelia Gomez in the second, Gomez led the Colonials with 22.
But Tech can go inside as well. Tere Williams twisted and turned out 18 points for the Hokies.

Carrie McConnell from Pulaski broke the school and ODAC record for assists in a game with 15.

The game was close throughout the second half and

Elsewhere in the A-C-C today, N.C. State had the task of taking on the fifth ranked Terps of Maryland.

Leading 10 to nothing Vinny Testaverde hands off to Keyshawn Johnson on the end around he scores on the 10 yard run his second T-D on the day the Jets led 17 to nothing.
But the Jaguars would get on the board on the last play of the first half Mark Brunell going to the air and hitting Jimmy Smith on the 52 yard T-D pass to make it 17 to 7 at the half.
New York led 24 to 7 in the third and the Jaguars would strike again on fourth and goal Brunell hits Keenan McCardell on the three yard touchdown pass play and the Jaguars trailed 24 to 17.
The Jets would answer in the fourth quarter when
Testaverde pitches to Martin he scores on the 3 yard run and New York wins the game 34 to 24.
The Jets play Denver next Sunday at Mile High Stadium.
In the N-F-C, The Arizona Cardinals made a trip to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.
The game is in the third quarter and Minnesota leads the game 27 to 14.

The team is headed to Hawaii this week to compete in an international meet.
The Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics placed second in the same meet years ago.

((These girls board a plane headed for Honolulu, Hawaii, on Wednesday.
Fun in the sun will surely be on the agenda, but the business of the trip is an international gymnastics meet.
The Roanoke Academy team has been preparing for this meet for over a year.
Team fund raisers became almost as much a part of the workout as tumbling.
Now all these girls have to do is perform.
They'll be competing at levels 7,8, and 9.
The Aloha Invitational is next weekend. The Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics is the only team from Virginia competing in the international event.
