Building commissioner Ron Miller plans to retire in May, after 15 years with the city. Before that, he was the Vinton town manager.
Miller's office was in charge of the rental housing inspection program, among other initiatives.
Public works director Bill Clark is ALSO leaving, in July. He's been in that job for 15 years, but has been with the city for 23 years.
These announcements came two days after city manager Bob Herbert said he planned to retire this year.

The U-S Grand Jury says Dorothy Saunders bilked Alice and Bettie McNeil out of their life savings between 1993 and 1996.
She obtained power of attorney for the two women- -who were in their late 80's.

The Virginia Tech Hokies will battle the Cavs next Wednesday night at the Richmond Coliseum, but last night the Hokies were in Dayton, Ohio playing the Flyers.

Dayton coach Oliver Purnell has seen his team struggle much like the Hokies this season.
But in the first half all he saw was some red hot Tech shooting. Eddie Lucas led a fired up Tech attack as the Hokies led by 12 at one point.
But Tony Stanley got his shooting eye back and by halftime the Flyers had the Tech lead chopped down to just 34-to-29.
Dayton went ahead by as many as seven in the second half before Rolan Roberts asserted himself down low and got Tech back in front.
In fact, Roberts would lead the Hokies with a 23 point effort. 10 more than his seasonal average.
The game went to overtime tied at 61 and the Hokies
took over in the extra period outscoring the Flyers 12-

to-3. Tech breaks a five game losing streak and wins it 73-to-64.

The Tarheels inside game was just too much for UVa to deal with tonight as the Tarheels outrebounded the Cavs 61-to-32.
Brian Bersticker had a big game for the Heels who played without former Tidewater star Jason Capel.
But the Heels did have Ronald Curry. He came off the bench and threw in this three pointer in the second half.
UVa did its best to keep it respectable. But the

Former UVa great Curtis Staples has finally signed a one year contract with the Chicago Bulls.

George Lynch, who helped Patrick Henry win a state title in 1988 and later was part a national title team at UNC, has signed a one year contract with the 76ers.
Lynch will be coached by fellow UNC grad Larry Brown.
He is expected to play the small forward spot, and depending on how other signings shake down, he could end up as a starter.

Dell Curry rejected the Hornets final offer of one million dollars this afternoon.
The veteran free agent guard, who was the only original Hornets still on the team will likely end up in Portland, Milkwaukee or Chicago.
