Police say an apparent brawl between a group of whites and a group of blacks erupted into gunfire last night outside a Danville Gas station.

It happened at the Piedmont Mini Market on Mount Cross Road.
Two men were wounded, both in the head.
An ambulance took Matthew Lynn Alverson of Danville to the Danville Regional Medical Center.
He's in Serious Condition.
Coroy Kinta Preston of Dry Fork was taken to the medical center by a private vehicle just a few moments later.
He was flown to Duke University Medical Center and is in critical condition.
Police questioned one person at the scene, but at this point no one's been charged.

A Dublin woman is scheduled to appear before a judge this morning on charges she tried to hire an undercover police officer to commit murder.
Sources tell NEWS 7, 39- year old Peggy Sullivan wanted the undercover agent to kill her former boyfriend.

Sullivan was arrested Tuesday afternoon after meeting with the undercover agent in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Dublin.
Sheriff's investigators had been monitoring the conversation and quickly moved in.
After taking Sullivan into custody they searched her pick- up truck and found two pipe-bombs-- which were later disarmed at a nearby landfill.
Sheriff's officials say they arranged the set-up after receiving a tip last week that Sullivan was looking for a hit man.

A California construction worker is in the hospital this morning after being buried alive yesterday for nearly eight hours.

It happened yesterday at a construction site near downtown Los Angeles.
A trench Arturo Garcia was working in caved in.
But Garcia was all smiles as he was lifted from the trench last night.
Some 175 people took part in his rescue.
It's not clear yet why the trench collapsed, but officials think recent rains may have made the ground unstable.
Garcia's condition has not been released.

Dave Matthews was back in Southwest Virginia last night, performing at Virginia Tech. There was no band this time, just Dave, a friend, and a lot of talent.

Two men, two guitars, and one grammy-nominated song captivated the crowd of three thousand from the very beginning...

The only unhappy fans were the ones caught outside, still without tickets, when the "sold out" signs went up on the auditorium doors... though they could at least pick up his latest C-D which went on sale in stores this week.
Matthews returns to Southwestern Virginia less than a year after his band kicked off it's international tour to a sellout crowd at Victory Stadium...
And while this accoustic tour with fellow Charlottesville musicial Tim Reynolds lacks the physical voltage of the earlier tour... The intensity of Reynold's performance, and the power of Matthew's vocals keep the spiritual energy level as high as ever....
And his words and music are reaching across generations... Lynette and Bert Moyer never imagined they'd get hooked on their daughter's music... they did, enough to stand in line for t-shirts...

Details about last night's shooting on Mount Cross Road in Danville are still sketchy.
Police say it may have begun as a brawl between a group of blacks and a group of whites-- then someone started shooting.
Two men were hit in the head and both are in the hospital this morning.

The woman who allegedly tried to hire someone to kill her ex-boyfriend will be in court this morning.
Peggy Sullivan was arrested Tuesday after a conversation with an undercover police officer.
Investigators say she had two pipe bombs in her truck at the time.
They're still trying to figure out who made the bombs.
