The man who shot Michael Durham five times and then dumped his body on an isolated road just outside Blacksburg could spend at least 20- years behind bars.

This afternoon, Circuit Judge Ray Grubbs found Robert Crook, Senior guilty of first degree murder.
Crook said he shot Durham while the two were riding down the road last March because Durham had grabbed a gun from inside his boot.
But two men who were also in the car that night testified they never saw the victim with a weapon.

Kennedy was suspended from his custodial job with the Roanoke school system pending the outcome of the case and is hoping to get his job back.
The school administration has not made a decision on that yet.

Ericsson plans to lay off 11-thousand workers in the next two years.

Ericsson is a leading maker of cellular phones and equipment for phone networks.

A proposed state bill that would have made it easier for local governments to regulate large hog farms is dead.
The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources voted against the bill today after dozens of farmers showed up to speak out against it.

Citizens in many localities, like Halifax County, are fighting hog farmers.
They were hoping to gain more legal tools to regulate large hog farms, which they say can produce huge amounts of waste.

A three-day inspection that starts today will determine whether a Botetourt County school for troubled boys stays open.

State Education Department officials arrived at the Wilderness Leadership Academy this morning.
The school lost its license last fall for being unsafe and unsanitary.
Between now and Wednesday, inspectors will interview students and employees, as well as review the school's facility and records.

The Education Department hopes to announce the results later this week.
