A Grayson County judge this morning upheld the jury's sentence in Emmett Cressell Junior's murder trial.
The 38-year old was given the maximum sentence for his role in burning and beheading G-P-Johnson.

Today marks the first anniversary of the nation's first deadly bombing of an abortion clinic.
In Birmingham, Alabama, this morning a memorial was held for the off-duty police officer killed in the blast.
Also today, Nurse Emily Lyons, who was critically injured in the explosion, will publish online the first part of a book she has written on the blast."

Meanwhile, the alleged mastermind behind the bombing is still on the run.
Investigators continue to search the hills of western North Carolina for Eric Rudolph and have place him on the Ten Most Wanted list.
There's a lull in the impeachment storm for now, with the next action to take place behind closed doors on monday.
President Clinton, meanwhile, goes on with business as usual, as his impeachment jurors prepare for next week's depositions.

Meantime in Kosovo today there was more violence.
Reports say some 20 rebels were killed in a shootout.
This follows the massacre of 45 ethnic Albanians in the Kosovo village of Racak (RAH'-chak).

By a two to one margin, unionized workers at the Dublin plant accepted a new contract.
Union leadership says a better pension plan and better health care for new workers were the keys to this vote.

Union leadership says members were not influenced by Volvo's threat to dump the 148-million dollar expansion project.
That expansion could bring 13-hundred new jobs.
Some Burlington Industries plants are actually benefitting from the company's plan to close seven facilities and layoff nearly three-thousand employees.
The Burlington Industries plant in Halifax County is going to absorb some weaving work from a plant in North Carolina that's laying-off.
It means the Halifax plant will be able to operate at full capacity, and even hire a few dozen new people to handle the increased load.
But the plant manager says his employees know they have to keep performing to keep their jobs.

Plant officials say a handful of new jobs will be created.
160 jobs will be lost when the company closes its plant in Hillsville.

French officials made the announcement today, just hours after the judge interviewed photographers implicated in the case.

Kids have lots of ways to pass the time...TV...video games...sports.
But many of them still seem to like a good old-fashioned circus.
Dozens of youngsters provided the audience at the dress rehearsal for the Kazim Temple Shrine Circus this morning, at the Roanoke Civic Center.
They watched lions jumping through hoops of fire.
And they saw some pretty nifty tricks by bareback horse riders.
The circus has a show tonight, three on Saturday, and two on Sunday...for kids of all ages, as they say.
The U-S economy grew at record speed last quarter.

Then, Jermaine Hardy grabs the board for Fleming and lays it back in for two.

From then on it was all Roanoke. Carrie McConnell banks this shot off the glass. She would have thirteen on the night.

A big upset at the Australian Open, where the world's top female fell to an unseeded player.

Lindsay Davenport-- the number one seed-- lost her match yesterday.
Lindsay Davenport won the first set, but Amelie Mauresmo rallied to win the next two, 7-5, 7-5.
Mauresmo won the Wimbledon and French Open junior titles in 19-96, but has never advanced beyond the third round in a major event.
She will face Martina Hingis in the final.
Two years ago Minnesota's Randall Cunningham was out of football completely.
But today his comeback is complete.
Cunningham was named the N-F-L's player of the year. He helped the Minnesota Vikings set an N-F-L scoring record and
come to within one victory of the Superbowl.
It was the closest vote in the 10 year history of the award.
He received 37 percent of the vote-- two percent more than Denver running back Terrell Davis.
Cunningham finished the season and the league's top rated passer he threw for over 37-hundred yards and 34-touchdowns.
Just days before the Superbowl, Denver's Shannon Sharpe and Atlanta's Ray Buchanan are exchanging harsh insults.
