Some Roanoke County eighth graders will have to go to summer school to make up for their low S-O-L scores.
The County will provide a special four-week remedial program
this summer for eigth graders who passed all four core academic classes, but NOT all of the S-O-L tests.
School officials say students who successfully complete the remedial
classes will be promoted to the ninth grade.
New state guidelines require eighth-graders to pass S-O-L tests in English, math, history and science before moving on to high school.
