The driver of a wrecker that slammed into a car at a Franklin County bus stop last week is facing manslaughter charges.
The county grand jury indicted Michael Lee Gray of Salem on two counts today.

Gray was at the wheel of a rollback wrecker that plowed into a car on Route 220 last Monday.
The car hit the rear end of a school bus carrying children from Henry Elementary school.
The woman driving the car, Geraldine Gillispie of Bassett, died in the collision.
Her eight-year-old granddaughter, Emily Sturgil, suffered critical injuries and died later at the hospital.

State educators say they found "no" evidence of racism in the Lynchburg school system, but they feel the city could be doing a better job communicating with parents.

A Department of Education review team visited Lynchburg in December after a citizens committee complained too many black students were being suspended, and too few black teachers were being hired.
The review team says there's nothing to support claims of racial bias.
They DO suggest a task force be formed to study equity issues in the school division.
School officials won't comment on the report until tomorrow night's school board meeting.

Residents of a North Roanoke County community want their water system upgraded after one of their neighbors lost his home in a fire. The residents depend on wells instead of public water, something the community feels could have made a difference in saving the house. The system can be improved, but as David Johnson reports, officials say it's going to cost them.

White says along Thirlane Road in the Kingstown community, there's no public water and few fire hydrants. The utility department says it's common throughout the county.
