A judge today gave Shelor Automotive the green light to proceed with its lawsuit against Montgomery County.

Shelor is suing over the "merchant's capital tax", which is a yearly tax businesses pay on their unsold inventory.


The car dealership wants the tax abolished or some sort of tax relief saying the amount it pays is too high, because Shelor is a high volume company.
On Tuesday, the county approached Shelor about dropping the lawsuit.
If Shelor would agree, county officials said they would overlook what they say are newly discovered unpaid taxes.

He's one of several troopers soon to be part of Governor Gilmore's initiative to target speeders along Virginia's longest interstat--particularly in three regions, including Roanoke.

A judge in Greenbrier County has ruled the case against four people accused in a car bomb conspiracy can go to trial.

Parkway officials say they're concerned about construction of a facade and other improvements the filmmakers are planning, as well as the impact on parkway visitors during the filming.
Superintendent Gary Everhardt says officials have an obligation to protect the scenic beauty and values of the parkway, and offer those experiences to visitors. [STAND-UP CLOSE]
Everhardt says it's still possible the filmmakers will offer more information and address his concerns, but a looming deadline leaves little time to resolve their differences.
